Give Thanks Board

Last week, I happened upon this post for a "give thanks" board while browsing a link party. I loved it and knew I wanted to make one before November! It has been my project for the last couple of days and I finished it this morning. Mine is much bigger than hers. I couldn't find those small coin envelopes she used after going to two stores, so I improvised and bought a pack of the paper cd sleeves. I cut off the flap that folds over the top and was left with 5x5 envelopes. I used craft glue and glued 5x5 squares of scrapbook paper on one side. I then mod podged the squares to the board that I painted brown. I mod podged over the top of them as well so that the board will withstand being stored between seasons. I cut the numbers and letters on my vinyl with my cricut. I then cut 4x4 squares of green cardstock and hole punched the tops of them and added a raffia ribbon tie. That will make sure the card doesn't slip down too far in the pocket. Everyday someone from our family will write what they're thankful for on the card that matches the date. We will save the cards for years to come.

I wanted to show you what our thankful board is replacing. For the last 2-3 years we have been updating our "feathers" on our thankful turkey. See the directions here at the Parents Magazine site if you are interested. To be honest, it is a little hard to get it to always stand up and I've had to rig it. I have save my feathers every year so it is neat to look back and see what the kids were thankful for when they were 3 years old. =)
