Woodland Fairy Party

Today we hosted a Woodland Fairy party for Cami's birthday! I can't believe my baby is 7! This post is heavy on the pictures, but it all turned out too cute! Start out by checking out the cute invitations that I ordered from Etsy! I also ordered the party circles from her, and I loved everything!
I found this fairy panel fabric at Beverly's. They had two different fairy styles, but I thought this one was the cutest. This was the mini fairy garden station. Each guest would be making a fairy garden to take home as their favor. As kids get older, it gets harder and harder to come up with something cute for favors.
I used double sided tape to attach the fairy fabric to the front of my french door.
Awhile ago Pick Your Plum had wooden pennants for sale, and I bought the small and large set. I painted them antique white so that I can easily change the vinyl and twine for each event. This one says "fairies", with a fairy on each side.
I made these mini boxes out of 1x4's. If you're curious, they are 8" long, each end is 3.5", and the bottom is cut at 6.5". We simply nailed them together with finish nails, and spray painted a tan color that I had on hand.  The basket that the fairies are in is a moss basket from save on crafts.
They had mini rocks in the bottom, and each girl could choose their tiny succulent and little fairy statue. I cut their names out with vinyl and added them and a fairy to the front.
I scooped the dirt in for them when it was time. They also passed around a big can of more tiny rocks to add to the top of their garden.
For a simple place setting, I cut scrapbook paper into 2"x 12" strips and taped on extra party punches that I had from the cupcake toppers. All I did was fold the edges over and under the plates. I used my new daisy cut mason jar lids and striped straws from a recent groopdealz.

For the kids table I cut a cute label shape out of chalkboard vinyl for their jars.
I designed this print for my wooden frame using the Silhouette software.
Here is the larger wooden pennant banner.

I made "fruit fairy wands" and displayed them in a log that I drilled holes into. The sign is actually a $0.25 corner tile from ReStore that I personalized with vinyl.

This is one of the little fairy styles that the kids could choose from. I found them on clearance at Beverly's when I found the fairy fabric!

 Happy birthday!

I HAD to show you this gift from my very talented friend Dana! She MADE this fairy house purse!!! The details are needle felting, and the house is crocheted! It's filled with beautiful fairies!
It was a wonderful birthday shared with family and friends! Thanks to everyone who came and share in her special day!

Shabby Chic Birthday

Today I got to host a little family birthday dinner for my wonderful sister in law. I used one of my french doors as a backdrop for my cart. It turned out great! It's amazing what you can pull from other areas of the house to put together a fun display. The only thing I bought was one bunch of snapdragons.I love the pink flowers in the aqua ball jars. The cake bunting was easy to make out of scrapbook paper scraps and baker's twine.
The cake turned out FABULOUS! I used Bakerella's Yellow Cake recipe. Seriously, it tastes like the old fashioned, dense cake that you can pick up a slice in your hands and it wouldn't fall apart. It's a triple layer cake with homemade buttercream. I refrigerated the cake for a few hours after I frosted it, and I'm glad I did, it made the frosting thick and chewy.
My little growing collection of vintage dishes (in the crate) finally got put to use.

Happy birthday Joy! I couldn't ask for a more wonderful sister in law! Love you!

Emma's Bunny Birthday Party {8 Years Old!}

My daughter turned 8! Yikes! That makes me feel old! She is OBSESSED with bunnies so of course she asked for a bunny party! We'll start with the invitations...(Photo from etsy.com) I ordered these invites from stockberrystudio on etsy and the file arrived super fast, and I printed them at Costco.
There were a lot of kids coming, so I brought in an extra table to make a big square table. It's easy enough to use basic white tablecloths and add a yard of bunny fabric to the center. I just used pinking shears on the edges. A yard was a perfect fit for the center of two 6 ft tables.
Since Emma has bunny stuff everywhere already, I was able to pull a few things from what she has. There are no bunnies to be found in stores at the beginning of January. This little felt basket was perfect for forks.
I've had these wooden berry boxes for awhile and I FINALLY got to use some of them! They held the bunny place card, and their take-home treats.
Bunny cookies from Nandie!
Giant marshmallows as "Bunny Tails".
I made a fabric strip banner to decorate the area where they were sitting.

I made this bunny banner with my Silhouette machine and some cotton balls. :)
This is a "punch game". I cut holes in a tri-fold display board with an exacto knife. Then I covered the holes with tissue paper, taped on the back. After that, you tape a box or bag onto the back of it, filled with candy or goodies. The kids choose which hole to punch and then discover their prize.

This GIANT balloon is from Shop Sweet Lulu. I LOVE it! I think all of my parties will require giant balloons from now on!
We have two bunnies that have a large outdoor cage, but we decided to bring them in for the party. We put them in the smaller cage, and let the kids feed them lettuce.
After pizza, we headed outside for Bunny Hop Sack Races.
At first, we were going to race on the straight part of the track, but Emma fell and hit her knee right away and said it was too hard, so we switched to the grass. I don't think our grass is much softer right now though, it's sleeping for the winter.
We raced 5 at a time.
I bought the sacks at the feed store for $2 each and then I added the white yarn for tails.

Punch game!
One thing I did that I will ALWAYS do again is pre-scoop the ice cream! I bought little bowls with lids from Smart and Final and the day before the party I scooped them, and wrote which flavor it was with a sharpie. All I had to do was pass them out, it was SO easy! No more waiting!
I always think that I'll remember to have someone take pictures of me with the birthday girl, and I ALWAYS forget. So... here's the girls with Nana!
