Marketing 101

Today when the kids were watching Sesame Street, Emma came running over to me and asked me if she could have a "stand". I told her I had no idea what she was talking about. She didn't know how to describe it, but I finally realized she meant a lemonade stand. Of course, she didn't want to sell lemonade, she wants to sell cookies. I told her she will make more money if she sells lemonade too so she finally agreed. She made this cute little sign for her table.

This is her drawing of her plan: "4 pieces of wood for the table, daddy will build it for me. a chair, and 10 cookies." Notice the box and the checkmark in it. =)

Being me, I can't just put out a plate and have people grab a cookie...so I bagged two in cellophane baggies and cut out some cute tags with my Cricut Expression. I chose a "summer-y" palm tree.

We baked chocolate chip cookies and put a few sprinkles on top. Two per bag, tied with ric rac and a palm tree tag!

It's never too early to teach good marketing skills! Ha ha. We don't exactly live on a busy street so if we don't sell them all I think I'll take them over to Nana's salon to sell. I think that little cutie pie could sell anything, but I might be a little biased! =)

I have to admit, when she asked me if she could have a stand, my internal response was "no". It just sounds like too much trouble, and lets face it, who's going to actually be doing the work? Me. Thankfully I saw the twinkle in her eye, paused, and said "yes". I realized at that moment that I could become a dream squasher or a dream encourager to my children. It might be just an afternoon making cookies for her to sell tomorrow, but hopefully it will be an investment in her imagination and a memory of her mommy helping her accomplish a goal.
